THE C9 BULB FITS PERFECTLY INTO THE (FEMALE) E17 SOCKET. The problem is the smaller E12 (MALE) part is too short to fit all the way into a candelabra by about 1/8". Not much. So instead of returning them I just picked up a soldering iron and soldered a small piece of 20 gage copper wire to each the bottoms (E12) side. They all work perfect now. Hope this helps someome. :)
